چکیده
P a t i e n t s 300 patients (mean age 61 y, 82% men) who were > 18 years of age, had had the first symptoms of MI within 12 hours before enrollment, and had ST-segment elevation of > 1 mm in ≥ 2 contiguous electrocardiographic leads. Exclusion criteria were bleeding diathesis; administration of thrombolytic agents for the current episode; neoplasm; recent stroke; uncontrolled hypertension; recent surgery; oral anticoagulant therapy; limited life expectancy; child-bearing potential; and known contraindications to aspirin, ticlopidine, or heparin. Follow-up was 100%. I n t e r v e n t i o n 149 patients were allocated to abciximab (bolus of 0.25 mg/kg of body weight, followed by a 12-hour infusion of 0.125 μg/kg per min) plus stenting (the treatment group); 151 patients were allocated to placebo plus stenting (the control group).

Effects of Abciximab on the architecture of platelet-rich clots in patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing primary coronary intervention.
BACKGROUND Abciximab plus aspirin improves the TIMI 3 flow rate of the infarct-related artery in patients treated with either percutaneous coronary intervention or thrombolysis. The present study investigated whether the reperfusion efficacy of abciximab relates to modifications of clot architecture in patients admitted for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 23 ...
متن کاملAbciximab-supported infarct artery stent implantation for acute myocardial infarction and long-term survival: a prospective, multicenter, randomized trial comparing infarct artery stenting plus abciximab with stenting alone.
BACKGROUND The impact on survival of routine use of abciximab as adjunctive treatment to routine infarct artery stenting for acute myocardial infarction is not defined. We sought to determine the effect of abciximab on 1-year survival and other major adverse cardiac events of patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing routine infarct artery stenting. METHODS AND RESULTS The Abcixima...
متن کاملEffect of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor blockade with abciximab on clinical and angiographic restenosis rate after the placement of coronary stents following acute myocardial infarction.
OBJECTIVES In the Intracoronary Stenting and Antithrombotic Regimen-2 trial (ISAR-2), we sought to investigate the effect of abciximab on angiographic and clinical restenosis after stenting following acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We also intended to assess the impact of abciximab on clinical outcome in this setting. BACKGROUND It is unclear whether abciximab reduces neointima formation a...
متن کاملFive-year outcome of patients with acute myocardial infarction enrolled in a randomised trial assessing the value of abciximab during coronary artery stenting.
AIMS The aim of the study was to investigate the long-term (five years) efficacy of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibition with abciximab given as an adjunct therapy to coronary stenting in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) using the patient cohort of the Intracoronary Stenting and Antithrombotic Regimen-2 (ISAR-2) randomised trial. METHODS AND RESULTS The patient cohort of ISAR-2 tria...
متن کاملReduction of major adverse cardiac events with intracoronary compared with intravenous bolus application of abciximab in patients with acute myocardial infarction or unstable angina undergoing coronary angioplasty.
BACKGROUND In patients with acute myocardial infarction or unstable angina undergoing coronary angioplasty, abciximab reduces major adverse cardiac events (MACE). Clinical trials have studied intravenous administration only. Intracoronary bolus application of abciximab causes very high local drug concentrations and may be more effective. We studied whether intracoronary bolus administration of ...
